What teeth whitening system does The Smile Bar use?

At The Smile Bar, we use only the most advanced teeth whitening technology available in the market today. We have developed and improved this technology for the past 20 years in Europe.

Our system has two components: the exclusive whitening gel, and the UV-free LED Plasma Light Technology that activates it to remove organic stains on your stains on your tooth surface effectively, without abrasions or side effects like sensitivity or pain.

What makes the Smile Bar whitening different to other teeth whitening systems?

The experience of a salon vs. a clinical dental practice and the technology of the gels that are used. The expertly engineered dual component gels is far superior to most other systems. The gels:

  • Activate upon mixing--> for more effective and faster whitening results
  • Contain a unique colorant that is perfectly adjusted to the wavelength of the light --> faster whitening procedure.
  • Are pH-neutral. No damage to enamel even with multiple treatments AND reduces risk of sensitivity.
  • Contains water --> no dehydration during whitening --> results that last

What’s the active ingredient that makes teeth whiter?

Hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient in The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening gel.

Isn’t hydrogen peroxide harmful to teeth?

Not at all! The hydrogen peroxide solution in The Smile Bar’s exclusive teeth whitening gel is 100% safe in removing surface stains.

The secret is the UV-free LED Plasma Light Technology, which safely amplifies the effects of the solution without causing any abrasions.

Will The Smile Bar’s treatment work on the stains on my teeth?

The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening system works exceptionally well on organic stains. If you have teeth discolouration caused by the following, our process can definitely brighten your teeth:

  • Consumption of foods that are heavy with colourants such as red meats and sauces, as well as beverages like red wine, coffee, tea, and cooldrinks
  • poor oral hygiene, and
  • smoking or chewing tobacco products.

How is The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening treatment different from home teeth whitening kits?

DIY (do-it-yourself) teeth whitening kits have become readily available these days, with varying formulations, application methods, and prices. However, most of these kits don’t guarantee results.

While DIY is not a bad idea, it’s important to remember that there are some things that are better left at the hands of experts who know what they’re doing, such as haircuts, facial treatments, and of course, teeth whitening.

The Smile Bar’s in-store specialists, along with the people at our technology partner, are experts you can fully trust with teeth whitening.

Is The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening safe?

Of course! The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening is completely safe as extremely effective.

After all, our technology is developed by the most advanced factories in Europe. All products and services developed by the company are thoroughly tested for effectiveness and safety. We count more than 100,000 Satisfied clients.

What is the light for?

The UV-free LED Plasma Light Technology is the component that amplifies the effectiveness of The Smile Bar’s exclusive teeth whitening gel, which, compared to other teeth whitening methods, gives better results in a shorter period of time.

Will this whitening procedure cause teeth sensitivity?

Since The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening system is completely non-invasive, it does not cause any side effects like pain or tooth sensitivity. Some customers have experienced a very mild tingling sensation after the treatment, but this is completely natural and it disappears on its own after 24 hours.

Is there anyone who can’t or shouldn’t get this whitening treatment?

The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening session is not recommended for (a) pregnant and breastfeeding women, (b) people wearing dental braces, and (c) children and teenagers under 16 years of age.

For those who fall within any of the above-mentioned criteria, The Smile Bar offers Brilliant SmileTM Sweden Whitening Oral Care system instead, a DIY system that can still help make or keep teeth whiter. While this is not as effective as the in-salon teeth whitening, it's a good alternative until they are already fit to avail of the procedure.

Can anyone really get whiter teeth at The Smile Bar?

Our direct whitening treatment is very effective in removing organic stains and discolouration caused by food and beverages, smoking, and poor oral hygiene - it’s extremely rare for it not to work.

However, there are still some people who have specific diseases and/or a genetic disorder that could either prevent or make it difficult for them to get whiter teeth. About 15% of the global population fall under such conditions.

Will it also whiten crowns, bridges, and veneers?

As our direct whitening procedure is essentially organic stain removal, it can help restore the original colour of crowns, bridges, and veneers. It is important to note, however, that The Smile Bar’s technology works best on natural teeth.

Can I eat, drink, or smoke right after the treatment?

A huge advantage of whitening your teeth at the Smile Bar is that we offer a Nono Shield Protection as add-on solution that eliminates the 72-hour post-treatment down time.

Since your teeth will be prone to new discolouration for about 72 hours after direct whitening, we strongly advise you to refrain from the following:

(a) eating foods that contain colourants like red meats and chocolates, as well as highly-acidic foods like vinegar, citrus, soy, tomatoes, and chilli sauce;

(b) drinking dark-coloured drinks such as red wine, coffee, tea and cooldrink

(c) smoking or chewing tobacco products.

Microscopic gaps are left on your teeth by the stain removal process, which you can help fill with a flouride rinse twice a day.

What is Nano Shield Protection and what’s it for?

The liquid solution Nano Shield Protection reinforces the teeth’s enamel and seals its whiteness. When applied to teeth after the procedure, you can eat, drink, and/or smoke right away without the risk of any new discolouration.

How long will the results last?

It’s your lifestyle choices that will determine how long your teeth can stay white and bright After direct whitening at The Smile Bar, your teeth will stay white and bright depending on your lifestyle choices. By choosing the right foods and beverages and avoiding smoking or chewing tobacco, you will have the most long lasting results.

However, you can eat, drink, and smoke as you please and still maintain your new white smile when you use our Whitening Oral Care products to supplement your oral care regimen.

What should I do to keep my teeth whiter for a long time after the treatment?

To keep your smile whiter, longer, you can use our Whitening Oral Care System, exclusively available at The Smile Bar.

Here’s how to use it:

(a) Gargle with 10ml of Whitening Mouthrinse for 1 minute before brushing.

(b) Apply a pea-sized amount of our Whitening Toothpaste on a toothbrush and brush as you normally do.

Both products are non-abrasive as they do not contain hydrogen peroxide and other oxidizing substances, making them perfectly safe for daily use. They help prevent discolouration by dissolving and removing surface stains.

How come I’m told to use the mouthrinse first?

The Mouthrinse loosens the stains on your teeth, making it easier for them to be removed by brushing.

Where can I buy The Smile Bar oral care products?

Exclusively at The Smile Bar in South Africa.

What's the red and blue toothpaste for? How are they different?

As prophylactic products, both gel toothpaste variants protect teeth from cavities, plaque, sensitivity, and bad breath to promote overall oral health. And of course, they’re specially formulated to safely prevent and/or minimise new discolouration on the teeth’s surface.

The difference lies in the concentration of the active ingredients, and that is why the recommended usage periods are also different.

Why should I whiten my teeth?

Having whiter teeth is a great confidence boost! When you’re smiling confidently, you’re guaranteed to always make a great first impression, take amazing photos, and win people over.

A whiter, brighter smile brings a whole lot of positivity to your life and allows you to be the best version of yourself.

How many shades lighter will my teeth get?

The degree of the discolouration and the type of stains on your teeth are the factors that directly determine the results of the treatment. More severe cases may require Double or Triple Whitening in order to achieve the desired results.

The average is usually 5 shades lighter, but the range is from 2 to 9 shades.

Are there kinds of teeth that are easy or difficult to whiten?

Yellow teeth are easier to whiten than grey teeth, since The Smile Bar’s treatment removes organic stains. These are stains caused by food and beverage colourants, smoking, and bad oral hygiene habits. The treatment brings back the teeth’s natural whiteness, which is the original colour of the enamel determined by genetics, prior to any sort of discolouration.

Can teeth whitening remove stains?

Our teeth whitening system works exceptionally well on organic stains caused by:
(a) consumption of foods that are high in colorants such as red meats and sauces, as well as beverages like red wine, coffee, tea, and cooldrinks.
(b) poor oral hygiene, and

How does teeth whitening work?

There are various methods of teeth whitening. Our system has two components: the exclusive whitening gel, and the UV-free LED Plasma Light Technology. The active ingredient in whitening gels is hydrogen peroxide, which removes stains and is then safely absorbed by the body.

The LED Plasma Light Technology activates the gel and speeds up the removal of organic stains on your teeth’s surface effectively, without abrasions or side effects like sensitivity or pain.

Is teeth whitening painful?
